Fall Family Room Inspiration

It's been a while, but today I'm linking up with Miss Gussy to share a little family room inspiration.
Our family room is challenging to say the least. One brick wall, one wall of windows, one regular wall, and one...wait for it...wood paneling wall! {YIKES} In our old house, I went all cottage/antique/shabby chic, but this house is A LOT older so I feel like my stuff just makes it look like an old granny's house.{not that there's anything wrong with that}

It needs HELP! So... I went browsing around on pinterest and here's what I'm loving for our family room this fall...

One Bite @ A Time {week 1}

Remember last week when I shared this new e-book about simplifying your life. Well today I'm sharing my first attempt at simplifying.

I actually started with #39 out of 52 [Making a Daily To-Do List]because I'm such a list maker. I always have a to-do list that's half a mile long. Often there's like 3 or 4 lists scattered around the kitchen. And to be honest...most of them end up in the trash.

via

#39 helped me to simplify by making 1 daily to-do list instead of a big long list of things that should have been done like yesterday.
I decided to use a mini journal that I can keep in my purse.{ps...the cute little journal cover will be in my shop soon}

The author suggests a "Daily Docket" and she even offers a free download, but it was a little much for me. I went ahead and made space for each day of the week because I know that certain things can wait until certain days. Then I started jotting down my to-do's and I gotta say I feel relieved and a little more relaxed. Just seeing it on paper really helped. I also added a star beside the ones that MUST be done just in case I don't get to them all.{also a suggestion from the book}

So far, so good! I'm moving right along and I'm crossing off another to-do right now.

What about you? Are you a list maker? How do you manage your to-do list? Share with us!

Progress + A Project

On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad of a mom am I if my almost 4 month old daughter's nursery is still not finished? Wait, don't answer that!

I shared a little bit about it here, but it's still a "work in progress." It started out as my little sewing room and birthplace of The Pickled Poppy{smile}. Now, it's a nursery/sewing room soon to be just nursery.{more to come on that topic}

So I got to feelin' crafty and I want to share my first hoop art project with ya'll.

It was really pretty simple. A few hoops, some fabric scraps, burlap, and Voila...

I hope little miss Lucy loves it!

Summer Snap Shot

Summer went by in a flash and fall is just around the corner. By far, this was my most favorite summer. I got to spend it at home with my sweet little family. Nothin' fancy, just good, clean, simple F-U-N!

So today I thought I would share some of the highlights with y'all. I'm tearing up as I write this just thinking about how quickly time passes and how we must remember to cherish each and every moment.

A Problem and A Solution

As flattered as I am that some people think I have it all together and have even thrown around the term 'supermom,' the truth is...I'm strugglin'! I'm T-I-R-E-D! I just can't seem to get it all in. There's just not enough time in the day for everything. I mean, I need like 30 hours in a day instead of 24. Then I'd be good!

I constantly struggle with the guilt of not spending enough time with my two little sweet peas, not to mention the hubs. And above all...they come first!{which is not always easy}I work all day, come home and have like a bazillion things to do just to get ready for the next day. You feel me? I miss blogging 5 days a week. I miss sewing and adding fun new things to my shop. I miss my bloggy peeps. Truth is...I miss that extra cash from sales. By the time I have time for my hobbies...it's bed time and I still didn't get it all done!

I know what your thinking. Enough complaining already! What are you gonna do about it? Well...I just so happen to have a plan. Well, sort of. Yesterday while twitter stalking,  I stumbled across Jeannett's post over at Life Rearranged about this new e-book called One Bite At A Time. As I started reading, I realized that this may be somewhat of an answer to my make my life simpler and manage my time better problem.

This genius idea includes 52 ways to make life more simple! Duh, that's what I need. And it's only 5 bucks. Cha-ching! Jeannett has this great idea of working on it together, one project at a time. Who's with me? You don't need a blog or a shop. All you need is 5 bucks and the desire to simplify your crazy life. So hop on over and read more about it.

Can't wait to get started!

If you're anything like me, you sometimes{all the time}opt for the prettier version verses the less expensive and more practical version of whatever it is you are purchasing. Especially when it comes to stationary! Target could be giving away plain ol' notebooks and I'll pay 8 bucks for the same notebook with the pretty print on the cover. Who's with me?

Well today, I have a solution for your super cheap and ugly note pads. All you need is pretty paper, scissors, and a little glue!

Before:

After:

Just take a little glue and spread it across the ugliness. Place a sheet of pretty paper on top and trim it to fit with your scissors. Viola!

BTW... these were my husbands super duper official football note pads that he uses to draw up "plays."{random little x's and o's} He's gonna be soooo surprised!

Happy Hump Day!

Snail Mail

Don't get me wrong, I love me some technology BUT it makes me a little sad that it has basically replaced good old fashioned 'snail mail.' I get super excited when I receive a post card or sweet little note in my mail box.{you know, that thing that's nailed to the big stick at the end of your driveway}Believe it or not, it's not just for bills.

I found lots of lovely little ideas that may inspire you to surprise someone with a paper treat!

5 More Things About Me + A List

Today I thought I would share 5 things you may not know about me. Here goes...

1. I give regularly to St. Judes.
2. I never pass up a brownie. Ever.
3. I hold my nose when I jump in the pool. There I said it.
4. I choose one car on the way to work and pray for that person. {kinda weird, but it makes me feel good}
5. I have a not so secret crush on Denzel.

What about you? Come on...you gotta love Denzel.

I also wanna share a list of goals that I have. I'm thinking if I share my goals with ya'll, then you can help hold me accountable.{please}

1. Lose 8 lbs. {via The 30 Day Shred...it works}
2. Fix my hair every day for like a week. {i'm seriously strugglin'}
3. Read my bible each day.
4. Shut off technology @ 9 every night.
